There are many different schools and systems in Feng Shui and there are also a multitude of formulas used for making permutations that can be quite complex and perplexing to the layman. One of the simplest formulas in existence and popular among novice practitioners is derived from the trigrams or Kua of the Luo Shu. Each of the Kua is associated with an element and a compass direction.
Based on the back position of a building (which is the opposite of the front position), a simple calculation can be made to ascertain which Kua the building belonged to ("Property Kua"). In Feng Shui, a building is divided into 8 sectors or palaces under a system known as 8 Mansions. Each palace is associated with an element and a compass location. With this information, the person can find out the auspicious and inauspicious compass locations within a building with the aim of harmonising the energies or Qi in the person's living space.
How to determine your Property Kua
The table below shows the different names of Property Kua which corresponds with different property back sitting positions.
